The ingenious secret of the triple cuff is the construction of the inner bladder. It consists of three chambers, with three different widths on the traditional cuff (9. 12 and 15 cm). When the triple cuff is placed on the arm and the clasp is in place the air supply is automatically swift off from not needed areas. The triple cuff therefore gives secure values (specify 0,98). The triple cuff can be connected to every pressure gauge on the market. Table- or wall-pressure gauges are connected through an Y-hose coupling. Electronical meters or hand pressure gauges are connected directly.
We can now state that the problem to why more than 150 000 Swedes eats blood pressure reducing medicine when they do not need to. The main reason to this is cuff hypertoni. With cuff hypertoni we mean that the source of error is the choice of cuff. Further more there is a risk for blocking when the standard cuff is filled with air. TriCUFF automatically adjusts to the size of the arm and then chooses the right chamber, and it is stabile and safe.
Professor Lennart Hansson, M.D., at Uppsala University, has changed all the hospitals blood pressure cuff at the Hypertoni surgery at Östra Hospital in Göteborg. The reason: TriCUFF gives a correct reading compared with the standard cuff.
